Shop Front Grants -The market towns within Amber Valley are classed as ''Slow towns'' with a variety of individual shops and only a few high street retail brands. Amber Valley is trying hard to avoid the ''Clone Town'' trend and give a real choice of goods to the shoppers that use the area. A grant scheme will enable retailers to attractively promote the environmental image of their business and help develop a niche market in order to compete effectively with surrounding cities of Derby and Nottingham. This scheme will offer grants to new and existing businesses with a display window, regardless of size or sector in order to improve the shop frontage and surrounding street scene. Grants of up to 50% will be offered which must be matched by owner contributions. Partnership work with Business Link will keep local advisors updated on which businesses are utilising the grant and referrals will be made to Business Link, where relevant, in order for businesses to access information on other suitable BERR schemes.
