Derby and Sandiacre Canal Enabling Project
The total project is for restoration of the Derby and Sandiacre Canal and the provision of water borne traffic direct into the City of Derby. After a number of years in development the project is moving towards the stage of major fund raising for its restoration. This will mainly be funded through Lottery and Charitable sources together with the sale of soil extracted during the canal construction. Allowing for inflation the project cost is estimated at £63m.The project has been awarded £150,000 by DDEP.
