Chesterfield Infrastructure Development Officer

The objective of the officer is to stimulate economic development activity in Chesterfield, ensuring that the benefits of strategic site development are spread amongst businesses and residents of the area.
The officer's main task is to provide the lynch pin between developers of strategic sites, employers locating on those sites and the local supply chain. Their focus is looking at what developers and employers need including skills requirements and the supply of goods and services make sure a connection is made to maximise the impact of major regeneration schemes for local communities and businesses. Providing this support to developers will help to ensure the survival and growth of local business as well as helping to promote the creation of new businesses, particularly on the new development sites when they become available.
The officer continues to work on sites identified in the Chesterfield Masterplan. A Retail Study has also been commissioned to investigate the retail offer in the town. This will be used to identify potential retail opportunities for key sites in the town.
The officer is also looking at other sites across Chesterfield assessing the conditions that are preventing the sites coming forward and looking into options for bringing these sites to fruition.

The project has been awarded £134,462.00 by DEP.
