Peak District Dairy Wagon
To provide an incentive to young farmers to stay in trade a much needed programme of training was needed.With the aid of an innovative mobile training facility, known as the Peak District Dairy Wagon, and a qualified technician, farmers are now able to undertake one-to-one training in dairy processing.
The project aims to help farmers boost their income by helping them to diversify into a range of high value-added distinctive dairy products such as flavoured cheeses, yoghurts and ice-cream.
The Peak District Dairy Wagon will be driven from farm to farm, with one to one training being delivered by the technician. The project will also encourage links to be developed between food retailers and restaurant owners and to local dairy farmers to increase take up of local produce.
