Making Woods Work
Making Woods Work is a two-year project aimed at supporting and developing the woodland economy in and around the National Forest. Rural Development Initiatives has been commissioned by the National Forest Company working with landowners and woodland managers to create and produce productive woodlands, and to work with wood related businesses including tourism, energy, craft, construction, recreation and leisure, to make the most of this sustainable resource.
Support will be given to woodland related businesses through a series of themed events and the general public will be made aware of the diverse range of wood products and uses through the development of the annual Wood Fair. Bespoke training courses will also be held as required.
Rural Development Initiatives will be able to offer advice on the range of grant opportunities available to wood related businesses.
The project is managed by the Making Woods Steering Group which consists of representatives from the National Forest Company, emda, Derbyshire Economic Partnership, Business Link, Leicester Rural Partnership, Leicester and Leicestershire Economic Partnership, North West Leicestershire District Council.
This project was awarded £110,000 by emda
