Business Support

The overall vision for Business Support theme aims to ensure that we improve the rates of business formation, survival and growth within Derbyshire to ensure greater economic prosperity.

DEP looks to play an active role in creating an environment and culture conducive to entrepreneurship and business success. We support the start-up, growth and survival of dynamic and innovative businesses, making sure they're are as competitive as possible and trading at their full potential.

Our key priorities are:

• Supporting the start-up, diversification and development of businesses
• Encouraging Derbyshire businesses to invest in and make effective use of broadband, information and communications technologies and e-commerce.
• Encouraging more businesses to maximise international trade.
• Improve the availability and access to finance for new, small and medium-sized firms showing the potential for growth
• Co-ordination and alignment of Business Support and Economic opportunities across the
  sub-region 
• Capital Investment for Tourism, Heritage, Culture and Public Realm to Support the Visitor Economy.
•  Supporting Innovation and Diversification in key sub-regional sectors. 

DEP work to help start business, help improve business performance, increase innovation within businesses, help them to work in internationally and provide support for businesses in difficult economic times.
We also want to encourage people to come and visit, live in, work in and invest in Derbyshire. Our job is made so much easier by the fact that we’ve got some of the most incredibly varied and spectacular landscapes—great natural and historic assess such as Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Derwent Valley Mills and being a predominantly rural area we have a number of market towns.

Solutions for Business is a package of publicly funded business support products and services designed to help businesses start, grow and succeed.

The right advice, loan or grant – at the right time – can make the world of difference to your business. Solutions for Business products are simple to understand and access, good value for money and directed to where they will have most impact to help businesses grow. They are designed to equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills you need to tackle issues your business might be facing.

Eligible businesses can gain support in areas such as starting up, understanding finance, training and skill development, resource efficiency, exploiting ideas, accessing international opportunities and growing your business.
