DDEP Launches £5 Million Grant Programme
Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) has launched a new grant programme worth £5 million to help fund capital projects over the next three years.
The Invitation to Apply for Grant Funding (IAGF) is open to projects that will support infrastructure development within the rural and urban areas of the Derby and Derbyshire sub-region.
The programme has three core objectives - to provide quality employment space; to invest in infrastructure related schemes that will improve the quality of the public realm offering in the sub-region; and to increase the potential for innovative businesses to start up, become established and thrive.
The IAGF is open to organisations and individuals from the public, voluntary and private sectors, including both SMEs and large enterprises, to fund projects based within High Peak, Derbyshire Dales, Amber Valley, Derby City, Erewash and South Derbyshire areas.
DDEP will look to fund applications that are worth between £75,000 and £1 million and in-line with its standard funding principles, 50% match funding will normally be required.
Speaking about the IAGF, Kevin Edwards, chief executive of DDEP commented:
''I am delighted to announce that £5 million of funding is available over the next three years to help fund capital projects across the sub-region.
''This grant programme will help to support and grow the economy in the sub-region through the development of premium employment space, the support of new enterprises or through development of the public realm and infrastructure.
''These type of projects are essential for the long term development of the sub-region and I would therefore encourage any organisation whose project meets the criteria and is looking for funding to apply,'' added Kevin.
The Derby & Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) is one of seven Sub-regional Strategic Partnerships (SSPs) set up by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) in 2003.
Its aim is to stimulate, develop and bring forward a range of sustainable economic opportunities in Derby and Derbyshire and improve the prosperity and overall environment for businesses, communities, individuals and visitors.
DDEP's region covers the City of Derby and the borough and district councils of Amber Valley, Derbyshire Dales, Erewash, High Peak and South Derbyshire.
