NEW websites to promote businesses in the towns of Ilkeston and Long Eaton have gone live.
The two websites have been set up by regeneration agency Erewash Partnership and the borough council.
They contain up-to-date information on news and events about what is happening in the two towns and directories listing all the businesses.
There is information about local markets, special events, and business units that are for sale or lease.
The sites also display town centre guides and information about the Radio Link scheme which is used by traders to alert one another to any problems in the towns.
The development of the websites has been funded by part of a £52,000 grant from the Government’s Department of Communities and Local Government to boost the town centres.
Paul Calladine, market towns co-ordinator, said: “The websites are dedicated to just Ilkeston and Long Eaton so that users do not have to trawl far for vital information.
“They have easily-searchable directories so that shoppers and others will be able to find where to source goods and services quickly. The directories also mean that businesses can interact and do business.”
Councillor Geoff Smith, council lead member for regeneration and planning, said: “The council is pleased to endorse these two new websites which will provide essential information to shoppers and others at the click of a button.”
Janet Hassall, who represents market traders in both towns, said: “We hope this initiative will make it easier for the public to find us and encourage them to make better use of the many businesses and market traders.”
