Rudyard Lake Trust-Rudyard Activity Centre, Orangery and Canopy

Rudyard Lake Trust-Rudyard Activity Centre, Orangery and Canopy Leader case study.

Project description

Rudyard Lake Trust was formed in 1996 to conserve for public benefit Rudyard Lake Reservoir and surroundings.

This project is to upgrade the current visitor experience by the construction of a conservatory/orangery building adjacent to the cafe with a Victorian style canopy covering the current outdoor seating area, full access for all being a priority. The building provides a covered courtyard with a full view of the lake. The canopy ensures customers are protected from the unpredictable weather. The funding for the project enables the cafe to open for a longer season to cover the whole spring, summer and autumn.

Need for project

Without funding the building of the conservatory/orangery and canopy would not go ahead.
