Pikehall Farm rural buildings farm diversification

The dairy farmer had an underused barn that would enable the family to diversify and add a stable rental income to the farm.

Regular income to the farm assists in the long term viability of the farming family. The traditional farm buildings at Pikehall Farm comprise two distinct barns.

Hartington Creamery Ltd agreed to move into the converted barns and commence cheese production in 2010. One building provides approximately 2,800 square feet is being used to produce local cheeses made to traditional recipes.

The second building is being used as storage and training facility. Production and demand are continuing to increase as production increases.

Leader grant £62,750.06.
